COMMUNITY SOLAR

A 2015 NREL and DOE Report estimated that nearly 50% of consumers and businesses are unable to host rooftop solar photovoltaic systems—Community Solar now empowers them to get their power through solar energy.

  • What is Community Solar? Community Solar is a program that saves residences and businesses on their electric bills by subscribing to get a portion of their energy from a local community solar system.
  •
  • How does it work? Customers will be billed as usual by your utility company, but bills will show “renewable energy credits” that reflect money credited back to their account from your subscription to local community discounted energy. Depending on their jurisdiction, customers might either simply pay their utility for the renewable energy portion of their bill or they might receive a second bill for that portion. They are able to reduce their own carbon footprint even if their rooftop might not be able to accommodate solar.
